Part 1/2: I’m not one for writing reviews, I usually find something I like then move on with my busy life (despite how much I rely on reviews to purchase LOL) but I’ve been using Hazel Got You Covered’s scrubs for the last few years and they have become my ultimate non-negotiable scrubs through dental school and now beginning work. This is about to be a long review, but a full one explaining why Hazel is bottom-line the best. Being a hijabi, I spent hours at a local uniform store (I hate online shopping, I need to feel and try it on to know, and hate the inconvenience of returning/exchanging shipped stuff). Anyway, I spent hours trying to find scrubs at a good price (discovering how expensive scrubs are even at the lower-cost in person stores 💀) and also long shirts to cover my butt. At the time, I settled with what was available, which was of course wearing long sleeves under shirts that would never really cover my butt. And of course, I sized up, I looked through the men’s, etc. There was one long sleeve (buttoned) shirt in the entire uniform store that was exactly top-size, so no extra length, and of course it cost way more than a regular top, I compromised with that too to try to get a long sleeves scrub top. I also initially thought I’d buy figs with a student discount like my entire class did, but they were still so expensive (and not modest anyway!) so I didn't bother to. I lived like that my first year or so of dental school. I also didn't buy 5 pairs of scrubs (so expensive!) my first time and wore sweaters with scrub bottoms, etc to get through my 5-day pre-clinical schedule. Once it was a good time for me to buy another pair of scrubs I wondered if I could look up modest scrubs online. Yeah, Google was saturated with a bunch of random low-quality, questionable stuff (and of course I hate online shopping), as well as websites like SHEIN who are widely known for exploiting slave labor (and Muslim slave labor in shein’s case too). But then I found HazelGotYouCovered, a woman-owned small business which at the time, was like the only modest scrubs company btw. I ordered their joggers and a long top in ciel blue, found them to be so cute, but the top was hard to take on and off with my chest size, and I was worried about oversizing and looking too big (which is why I ordered small in the first place lol), but I risked the annoying exchange, found that sizing up one fit me perfectly without making me look huge either lol (I have a relatively small/slim waist, but broad shoulders and mid-large chest, so I usually have to size up my tops but hate when that makes me look like a box esp as an early 20s y/o :/). They have a clear sizing chart, it’s just more about fit and feel than numbers for me so I had to do a little trial and error first. And of course, once you confirm your size the first time, then you know what to order perfectly for future purchases! Anyway, these scrubs are so perfectly curved to look smooth on you, but not tight or figure-showing like that either. They’re long so it covers your butt if you’re looking for religious/personal modesty, don’t want/can’t have your back exposed when you lean down, extra length top for THOSE FIRST COUPLE DAYS OF YOUR PERIOD (no one ever thinks of that pro lol), and everywhere I go I get compliments. I’d also still wear my old scrubs because we on a budget (and I wasn’t tryna wear ceil blue forever anyway to be investing like that) and I definitely chose which days I’d wear which scrubs depending on what I had that day and if I wanted to look more presentable or didn’t care if I had a meh day like doing lab work (or was starting my period lol). 😂 They look so chic and well-stitched (I’m brown so I know how to tell those things from watching my mom bargain at markets back home), great fabric quality, clean-cut, useful pockets, etc. Also, long sleeves means you don’t have to wear a shirt under for the modest girlies, but I still wear short sleeve cotton shirts/crop tops under, because I sweat and need to wear cotton/undershirts to absorb at my underarms area, if any other “fancy” material is directly on my underarms, no amount of deodorant helps me lol (although I switched to carpe recently and it holds up really well for no odor). So if you’re like me, don’t worry, mine’s have been loose enough to easily fit an undershirt under (and not making me look boxier either). All the Muslim girls (students and professors lol) at my school would ask me where I got them, other girls and guys and patients would compliment at school for how well dressed you are and “omg where did u get those??”. They’re nice if you’re doing boutique healthcare, but they’re also durable and not too fancy for you to feel comfortable and professional for elbows-deep healthcare, public healthcare (as I will be). 1/2
